Fish in a Pouch (64:365)

I got this new recipe from Emeril on the Food Network, and some frozen cod (not as good as fresh, I'm a Northwest girl!) and whipped it up for dinner (I forgot to take a picture before we ate it). Scott said he liked it, and Jane wouldn't try it. She did try it the other day when I made Panko crusted fish.

Jane is learning to like more things, seeming to eat more, and is moving up in her weight class. Today she measured at 50% for her weight! From the time she was a baby she's been as low as 3% and as high as 25%, so today was a big step!

Lucy is currently about 16 lbs. She is getting so big! She follows us around the house all day doing an army crawl. It is so darling.

I'm still working on that little sweater dress for Lucy. It fits her, but is pretty tight. Oh well, I think it will still be cute-ish. Hopefully I can post some pictures of a completed dress tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by!

Sweater Refashion into a Dress for the Goose Part 1 (63:365)

I saw people doing these all over the internet and decided to try it out. Taking ideas from many places, I'm working with a sweater that didn't have the exact kind of neck or
length that I needed for a baby dress.
So, I've been having some technical difficulties, as usual,
and the dress is NOT complete.
Here are the steps I've completed so far.

Problem #1: The bottom edges were a bit pointy,
so I cut and sewed them straighter.
Problem #2: The neck hole is too small.
I think I've worked a solution, although it is not pretty.
I'll post it tomorrow.
Problem #3: Figuring out the sleeves.
I want them to be caps that are a little puffy.
We'll see how that goes!

P.S. The Goose = Lucy (we call her Lucy Goose)

I Deserve It (A New Realization) and Number Two is Weaned (51:365)

Today while working out (I completed my 3rd day this week and reached my goal!) I realized that I enjoy doing it! I know, it's strange! I also realized that I deserve to feel good and to have a little time to myself each day to do something good for me. I don't need to feel guilty about putting my kids into the (free!) Child Watch at the Y. They go and are fine and I get to do stuff for myself, and then we are back together and recharged for the day. Huzzah!

Today Lucy decided to be done with mommy. You know, she's tired of the slow flow and prefers the ability to guzzle and wiggle at the same time. Ahhh, the good life.
I'm a little bit sad, but it's okay. I just can't believe that she's so big! Here are some shots of her bottle enjoyment (she likes to drink and rub her head. It's sooooo stinkin' cute!) I just love taking pictures of that sweet little face.

Bling Bling Binky Clip (45:365)

I saw some of these online here and here (surprise, surprise, I'm a blog stalker) and decided to make one for myself. Well, not myself, but, well, you know... my baby needs it, sort of.
Anyway, here it is.
It's waaaay cute, but kind of heavy, so we'll see how functional it really is.

Patacones and a Chiffon Rosette (34:365)

Tonight I made patacones for the first time. They are a love of mine that I discovered half my life ago in Costa Rica. I got the recipe here. That blogger also had some good tips. Fried plantains. Yum. I like to use them to scoop up refried black beans.

Jane actually tried a bite and enjoyed them enough for 2 bites, then ate her first taco! (She is a typical picky toddler.)

Scott, my ever sceptical palate, ate them right up!
Here is his happy face.

Lucy is struggling with solids and did not like me trying to get her to eat some before her bottle. Instead, she just played in it for a while.

I also started a project I've been meaning to do for 2 months now. I am making a rosette necklace out of hot pink chiffon with a chain wrapped throughout. This is a TERRIBLE picture because I was feeling lazy, but it will not the be last. Once it's totally done I'll take another and post it.

Lucy's First Trampoline Experience and she Meets More Family (18:365)

Lucy met her aunt Jenny, uncle Ken and their five kids today for the first time. She was SUPER tired so it was a tough experience for her, but they all still thought she was adorable.
Because she is.

Also, she and I rocked it on a giant tramp for the first time too. Baby bounces. She loved it. Had a little coy smile going on. Cutie pie.

Lucy's First Time Picking Blueberries (13:365)

Jane, Lucy, my mom and I went to pick blueberries. It was little Lucy's first time and she loved trying to grab all the little berries.
Jane kept asking all summer long to go picking with "just grandma and me", so she was pumped. Ten minutes into it she was done. See her running off? Silly kid.
Didn't help that most of the blueberries were still green.

At least we got some cute pictures, right?

Lucy's First Family Reunion (6:365)

Lucy met my great aunt Kathy, Kristen and great uncle Eric and their families for the first time in her life today. It was a cute moment and a good first.
